“I’ve been in some big pressure situations already, even at my age,” he noted. “I’ve been in front of huge crowds. Me and my brothers Wyatt and Sam had a contract and we’ve been performing for crowds upwards of 18,000 since we were nine years old. We were the contract act to Canada twice and we performed for the queen and Prince William and Kate, and met them and shook their hands (in 2011 at the Calgary Stampede).

Thursday night the show gets real.

“If I could win the world, I can’t even put into words what that would mean to me,” said Breding, a Montana bull rider who will be in the spotlight as the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo begins Thursday night in Las Vegas.

National Finals Rodeo live Streaming 2015:

Breding, a 23-year-old from Edgar, is making his second NFR appearance. He enters the rich rodeo in second place among bull riders with 2015 earnings of $122,041. That trails leader Sage Kinzey by about $52,000, and that’s not much at a 10-performance event that features a payout of $26,230 for first place each night.

Each December, the top 15 bareback riders, steer wrestlers, team roping competitors, saddle bronco riders, tie-down ropers, barrel racers, and bull riders qualify to compete in the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas.

National Finals Rodeo live 2015In order to house all of the competitors, a crew of 175 put in approximately 28 hours to transform the Thomas & Mack Center from a basketball arena to the home of the world’s biggest rodeo. The set-up requires the use of 2,500 tons of dirt, 1,500 metal panels and 250 bow gates and frames inside and outside the arena, officials said.

Much like the always-sold-out NFL Super Bowl, NFR has sold out 290 consecutive performances.
Lisa Lockhart had one word for her 2015 rodeo season. The Wheatland steer wrestler closed his 2014 campaign by pocketing more than $28,500 for placing in the top six in three of the final seven rounds of the National Finals Rodeo. That included a $19,000 paycheck for winning the fourth round.

NFR live 2015 on CBS Sports Network:

Brockman also was a half-second or less from earning paychecks in three other rounds.

Just missing out on big paychecks on rodeo’s biggest stage might disappoint many cowboys. Not Brockman.

“I went into this season with a ton of confidence,” the 32-year-old said. “I just knew that I was going to do well.”

Brockman will make his third career NFR appearance starting Thursday at the Thomas & Mack Arena in Las Vegas.

“Unbelievable,” the world-class barrel racer said.

And she continued.

“Just when you think it can’t get better, it does,” said the Circle native, who has more than $1.5 million in career earnings. “It definitely had the, ‘Wow,’ factor.”

Lockhart won both The American and Calgary Stampede for $100,000 each and added the barrel racing title at Cheyenne Frontier Days to her ever-growing list of accomplishments.

Wrangler National Finals Rodeo stream TV CBS Sports Network:

She entered just 39 WPRA-sanctioned rodeos in 2015 — the fewest among the top five in the world standings — and averaged $3,900 each time she left the arena. Lockhart also pocketed $38,000 at RodeoHouston.

And while she is more than willing to discuss her wildly successful summer, don’t ask about winning the world title.

“I try not to talk about it,” she said firmly. “Never have.”

But others definitely will.

After one of the most financially rewarding summers in barrel racing history, Lockhart is definitely in title contention when the National Finals Rodeo begins today in Las Vegas.

The 10-round rodeo will pay out a record $8.8 million this year.
